Summertime Photography
Friday, September 18, 2015I found out about the Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt on In My Playroom and hopped over to the host Gallorganico to see what it was all about.
Eileen from In My Playroom is going great guns and has numerous photos for some, over a number of posts (be sure to check them out), which puts me to shame as I only shot one for each before ticking it off the list and moving on to the next thing.
I've decided to post the ones I've found so far and if I find the others, I'll add them in at a later date.
I was able to capture a lot of these whilst on honeymoon in Zurich.
1. A bouquet of flowers
2. An ornate door knocker - yet to find.
3. A person walking a dog (or other animal)
I spotted these two ladies in the distance and ran to try and catch up without looking like some kind of deranged stalker. Luckily they stopped at a crossing so I was able to catch up. I often chuckle to myself at the random things I do for this blog!
4. People playing a board game or card game
Andy spotted these two playing cards and pointed them out to me, that's him on the right pretending to pose for a photo!
5. Architectural columns
Columns on Zurich's Opera House.
6. A metal bridge
Overall this wasn't a very exciting bridge, but it was metal and it did have love locks which I was delighted to see. Obviously, I wanted to add a love lock of our own, especially as it was our honeymoon, but we couldn't find one in any shops nearby.
7. A turtle
I am well aware that this is a pile of terrapins and not a turtle but the turtle I did see was doing something (to another turtle) I didn't want to photograph, so this will have to suffice (and it's kinda cute too).
8. Someone "plugged in" to social media
Bit of a cheat as this is Andy lurking on Twitter as we waited for our lunch to arrive in the airport.
9. A tent
Not content with a photo of just one tent, I took this at Latitude where there are tents as far as the eye can see.
10. A college or university - yet to find.
11. A cellular tower or television satellite dish - yet to find.
12. A public restroom, bathroom, or toilet
I did get a few odd looks taking a photo of toilet doors, especially when there was a stunning view directly behind me (the Limmat River, which you can scroll down to see).
13. A merry-go-round or carousel
My husband will tell you that I actually squealed when I saw this. We traveled home from Zurich via Paris by train and stayed overnight. The Eiffel Tower was only a few minutes walk from our hotel, imagine my delight when I saw a carousel there, you can't ask for a better backdrop than that can you?
14. A traffic signal
Why do these things always look so much more interesting in foreign surroundings?
15. A flag pole with at least three flags on it
This one was so frustrating! We saw many flags and many flag poles but not three flags on one pole. So, I cheated - here are three flags on three poles.
16. A panoramic view, taken while standing someplace high in the air
This was the view over Zurich and to The Alps from our hotel balcony, we where on the third floor set up in the hills. It felt magical to wake up to this view everyday.
17. At least two people wearing matching outfits or uniforms
I'd been sitting behind these gentlemen for a while before I realised they were in matching uniforms! They were all sitting down, side by side, all with the legs out and arms folded. It wouldn't been a much better shot but sadly I wasn't quick enough to capture it.
18. An overloaded truck, car, bicycle or other vehicle - yet to find.
19. A ticket booth
Queuing to get in to the zoo.
20. A natural body of water
Limmat River, Zurich
21. A photograph of you with a sign reading "2015 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt"
Alternative A: People eating outside - yet to find.
Alternative B: Someone holding an umbrella
We arrived back in London to be greeted with rain, the only upside to that was getting this shot!
Alternative C: Rocking chair - this should be easy as I own one, but I'm waiting to find a cat curled up asleep on it (they used to sleep there all the time but will not be cajoled!).
So that's all of them so far. It was fun to have such a varied list with a few really difficult ones. Thanks to Maria for hosting.
(Day 20 of blogging everyday for 40 days - half way!!)
Yesterday I gave a pair of Irregular Choice heels and makeover and this time last week I was testing Rock Rose Gin.

I'm loving my daily dose of Hazel!! Will you continue beyond the 40 days!?!? I LOVE this scavenger Hunt Idea, probably left it a bit late to join in!!!
ReplyDeleteHa, these are really brilliant candid shots- the men in uniform, dog walkers (there are SO many on my way to work!) I pass 3 pugs daily! The terrapins are cute but thank you for saving us from turtle copulation!x
Oh I really don't know. I'll try to post as much as possible but everyday seems unlikely. Who knows? I really enjoying it.
DeleteI think the hunt finished on the 28th so you could see how many you can get in that time. My biggest problem is that I spend so little time out and about, due to working from home, so my opportunities are limited.
Great loos, great turtles, great card players..!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to comment x
