A Few More #30Wears

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

Two items to add to the #30Wears Badge of Honour list. They're both good wardrobe staples that have plenty of wear left in them, despite being worn a lot.

This F&F jacket has been worn 44 times since I purchased it in April last year (a month in which I purchased rather a lot). I was on a charity shop rummage with Sophie and someone brought it into the shop whilst we were in there. I spied it on the counter and liked the look of it. Before the staff could even hang it up, I asked if I could have a closer look, I checked the size and enquired about the price, within a minutes of it being donated I was paying for it and happily popping it into my shopping bag.

I wore it that day. It was a day of the strangest weather. We had sun, rain, wind, hail and, I think, even a tiny flurry of snow. The extra layer was most welcome.

These pre-loved (but almost brand new) boyfriend jeans were purchased in May last year and have racked up 52 wears.

Do you ever automatically team two items together? It seems that since I found a pair of heeled burgundy boots in September last year, I haven't worn these jeans with anything else! I have a green jumper that until very recently was only ever worn with a particular pair of wide leg jeans. It seems I'm a creature of habit.

Anyway these jeans need to be worn with a heel as they're rather long in the leg, I've tried to wear them with a roll up but it just looks daft, they're too wide. These jeans and my burgundy boots go well together, why mess with a good combination?

The 30 Wears concept was the brainchild of Olivia Firth, founder of Ecoage, the idea is that the next time you want to buy new clothing or accessories, ask yourself if you will wear the item at least 30 times? If not, don’t buy it!

  1. Believe it or not, but I'm a creature of habit too. I have several tried and tested combinations I always seem to wear together, even if sometimes subconsciously. And it's often my blog that tells me so. Isn't it wonderful that these two pre-loved items have been worn well over 30 times! That F&F jacket is very stylish! xxx

    1. Any why shouldn't we wear combinations that we like? Doing it subconsciously obviously means we feel comfortable or good in these things. I wouldn't remember these combinations without my blog either, also I think I'd experiment less with my outfits without my blog. Sometimes I see possible combinations that I probably wouldn't have bothered to try otherwise.
I'm pleased to see my 30 Wears starting to pile up, I especially like it when a brand new item gets to 30, it's confirmation that it was a good purchase.
I do love that jacket, it's a soft yarn so it's really comfy to wear.

  2. Well done on wearing the jacket and jeans so many times, they've definitely earned their rightful place in your wardrobe.
Some things are winning combinations, like you've discovered with your boots and jeans. If something works I can't see the point in changing for changing's sake, after all, that's how we've all ended up with so many clothes, our endless need to experiment! xxx

    1. I guess there are things that I don't wear together, so it only makes sense that I have items that I only wear together. The boots have been worn with lots of different things but the jeans just need that extra height the heel has.
I do like to see how many different outfit combinations I can conjure up, but when I find a good one I'm always going to go back to it time and again.

  3. There are definitely certain items that I always wear together- there's a good reason for that- they work together so why change it/them!?!
Welcome to the 30 club jeans and coat- the coat is classic and jeans of course are work horses!

  4. I remember you buying that jacket. It's really strong and well made so it should last for ages! I used to wear jeans and heels together a lot back in the 00's when most of my jeans were so long they'd need that height to be kept off the floor xx

    1. I hope it does. I don't usually wear heels with jeans anymore - like you I used to wear them a lot in the 00s - and I bought these boots to wear with midi skirts, and my blue jumpsuit (which I have) but having them means I've probably worn these jeans more than I would have.

  5. It's good to find garments which you're happy to wear over and over. You were certainly in the right place at the right time where that jacket's concerned.

    1. I always strive to buy items that I will wear a lot, I don't want to contribute to the mountains of wasted clothing, and it's one of the reasons I buy pre-loved so much, well that and the bargain prices!
