A Few Happy Things
Wednesday, April 01, 2020I thought I'd share a few happy little things that made me smile and chuckle over the past few days.
The cat bed I purchased weeks ago is finally being used! Both my cats had been stubbornly ignoring this bed. It looks very warm and comfortable, I'd be tempted to get in if it was big enough. A month after I bought it, I finally found Tinker curled up in it looking very comfortable indeed.
My first spinach shoot emerged. For me the most exciting part of
growing veg is seeing them slowly emerge from the soil, watching them
grow, getting bigger by the day. It's very satisfying. I've got lots of
this to look forward to in the coming weeks.
Seeing 'then and now' photos of my family and friends on Facebook. Here's mine.
Having the patio doors open for the first time this year. The sun was out, it was pleasantly warm and I had washing on the line. It felt like spring had arrived.
I woke up to find myself pinned to the bed by a cat sleeping on top of the duvet on either side of me. I found it amusing that I couldn't move my arms and therefore couldn't sit up to get out of bed. What else could I do but stay there a while longer?
Another bit of Facebook entertainment - people's quarantine nicknames, which is how you feel right now and the last thing you ate out of the cupboard. Mine was Tired Bugles. Others included Drunk Gummy Bear, F**ked Off Toast, Old Porridge, and Perky Kit Kat, all of which kept me amused as they rolled in throughout the day.
What's your quarantine nickname? What's made you smile this week?

Pictures of cats are certainly happy things, Hazel, and I loved seeing your "then" photo. How cute! Aren't cats stubborn creatures, though. Phoebe was always drinking from the bird bath in our garden, so we bought her a nice bubbling fountain, which we were sure she would love. Guess, she wouldn't come near it. You're lucky yours started using the cat bed in the end. It does look very inviting! xxx
ReplyDeleteThen I shall try to share more cat pictures with you Ann.
DeleteMy cats always have fresh water but I often find them drinking from muddy puddles, and these toys that you see advertised as 'the toy cats are going crazy for' never interest my cats one little bit, but they'll play with a balled up bit of tin foil for ages! At least they're low maintenance I suppose!
xx
Love the young and current Hazel pictures and my lockdown name would be optimistic noodle - hehe!
ReplyDeleteHow funny are cats? Just when you think they hate the new thing you've bought them they decide to use it! xxx
Optimistic Noodle - hehe! But it's nice to hear that you're feeling optimistic!

Love the photos, and so cute that you still have bangs! I'd bought my cat a "cathouse" and he refused it for 6 months. Just when I was about to toss it I found him curled up inside it! Cats are so picky! Being able to open the patio door and air out the place is always my first sign of Spring, and I was able to do that earlier this week too. This is a great list - I need to focus on more positive things. Opening the windows, meeting my new neighbor (from 6 ft away still!), working on my puzzle, and a planned virtual happy hour tonight all make my happy list this week. Oh, and my nickname would be Caffeinated Cracker, haha!
ReplyDeleteWell they all sound like nice things!
DeleteI like Caffeinated Cracker, you should use it in future introductions or you could blame any lockdown madness on her!
xx
Why are pets so ungrateful? Lincoln spends less time in his bed than on the chairs and sofa.
ReplyDeleteMy quarantine nickname would be Wheezy Bournville Easter Egg :) :) :)
ReplyDelete(ps. the wheezing is just hayfever!)
Relaxed crisps!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, earlier I would have been Hot Soup or Lazy Toast! I love your happy things!!! Cats are so contrary sometimes!!!
hehe! Relaxed Secret Crisps!
