Post Isolation Fantasy

Monday, April 13, 2020

Last week Kezzie posed some post isolation questions and asked people to take part, I hadn't given any thought to what I would do when lockdown was officially over, so I really enjoyed mulling these over.

1. Restaurant you would go out to.
The Bildestone Crown. This jumped into my head first, so I'm going with it. We last ate there during our week of eating out. Or maybe the Fox & Goose in Fressingfield, then we can visit the graves of Andy's Grandparents after our meal. Or perhaps our first restaurant visit will be a rescheduled meal at The Leaping Hare, we were meant to go for a friend's birthday meal.

2. Friend you would meet up with first.
It's hard to choose, there are so many people that, even though I don't see them very often, I really miss them.

3. Place you would go.
The beach!

4. Shop you would go to.
All the charity shops. I miss having a good charity shop rummage - Sophie, Kezzie - we need to organise a meet up when we can.

5. Food item you would buy/eat
Fish n Chips with my Dad.

6. Cake you would eat.
See answer 13.

7. Show you would/will go to see.
I don't generally see many shows but I do fancy seeing something funny. I've been watching Sarah Millican read her book How To Be Champion on IGTV everyday, so maybe I'll try to get tickets for her next tour. Also, I'm hoping that the Ed Sheeran Exhibition will continue in Christchurch Mansion (I know it's not a show, but y'know...), I'd planned to see it but it was closed to the public before I had the chance.

8. Concert you will go to watch.
I'd love to see something orchestral.

9. Relative you will hug first
Either my Mum or Dad. Everyone I see is going to get such a hugging!

10. Holiday you would go on
The holiday we're probably going to have to cancel - a week in France with Andy's family.

11. Other activity you would take part in.
A night out with friends. Meeting friends for coffee. Movie nights with friends. Anything with my friends...

12. Thing you would do at work.
Work hasn't actually changed much for me as I'm freelance and work from home, but I'd like to meet up with the two freelancers I regularly work with.

13. Item you would buy
I'd go to the only independent bookshop in our local town and buy something from there, then I'd go to the independent plant based cafe, Hullabaloo, and have one of their delicious cakes, most probably the beetroot chocolate cake. Then I'd drive to Felixstowe and visit The Wool Baa to buy some wool and enjoy a cuppa, and then to Crafty Coffee to paint a celebratory 'isolation is over' mug.

This was a great idea Kezzie. Thank you! It was nice to think about all the lovely things that I can do when this is all over. Once lockdown is over I'll report back.

Take care, stay safe, and let me know if you answer these questions too!
xx

  1. I haven't thought about specific things I'll do when lockdown ends, it will just be good to get out of the house, anywhere. We've got tickets to see Les Miserables in August, it still seems so far away but who knows whether there'll still be restrictions or not by then. Some restrictions could go on for months in reality, it's quite mind blowing.

    1. I hope you'll get to see Les Miserables! They were talking on the news today about an exit strategy for coming out of lockdown, and it seems a bit early to be talking about the restrictions being lifted already. It's hard to think that this will still be going on in August but at the same time it's hard to think that it'll be over soon.
I did enjoy thinking about some of the things I could do, y'know, when...

  2. Yyyyyaaay, so glad you did this!!! So, my answer about the shops is the same as yours (already drafted my post- it's almost exactly the same!). Mmm, that cake. Yes, beach would be marvellous!!!! Haha, if you want to see an orchestra, I've always got concerts you can come and see (bit far though!)
I actually had chips the other day- the chipshop near the post box was open and I had the exact money so I bought some. They were good!

I'm looking forward to seeing your answers. Yes, that cake - we need more of that! I'd happily travel to see you play Kezzie, it would depend on where and when but it would be lovely.
I'm dreaming about fish n chips now...

    1. I'd been doing the same, but once Kezzie had posed the questions I couldn't help but think about it.
I hope you get to Greece as much as I hope we get to France! Keep everything crossed.

  4. I haven't really thought about this, but a good rummage in the charity shops sounds heavenly to me. And normally, I would be enjoying a short holiday right now, so I guess going away for a couple of days would certainly be on the cards. Just thinking of the fact that our UK holiday in the UK is cancelled is making me cry right now, so I'm just trying to live from day to day. xxx

    1. I do miss the charity shops.
I'm sorry that your missing your UK holiday, it's hard to have to postpone things that you've been rally looking forward to, but the UK will be happy to see you when you can make it over for a visit.
I'm mostly living form day to day, but it was nice to take a while to think about the nice things that await us on the other side.

  5. Oooh I love this questionnaire, and plan to join in answering them next week! Heading to the beach is my top choice destination as well :) I wish I had a local bookstore, that would definitely be on my list too. Sorry to hear that you may have to cancel those travel plans, but fingers crossed for you that you don't! I hope you get to see the Ed Sheeran exhibit too!

    1. Kezzie will be pleased, be sure to pop over to her blog an let her know.
Our bookshop was only open for three weeks before it had to shut, which is such a shame.
I'm not sure I would feel comfortable traveling even if restrictions are lifted, it feels a little too soon to be safe, but we'll wait and see what happens and make a decision nearer the time.
I look forward to reading your answers.

    2. I feel the same way. I had plans to go to Iceland in October, but even if restrictions are lifted, I'm not going to risk it. I played along! http://lildesiqua.blogspot.com/2020/04/post-isolation-challenge.html
