A Buyer's Archive | 2018
Friday, January 04, 2019Happy New Year! I hope 2019 is treating you well so far. This post marks the start of a series of 2018 round up posts, I love putting these together and looking back over the year.
Here's my complete Buyer's Archive for 2018, every item of clothing and every accessory I purchased in the past 12 months.
This first image shows purchases up to the end of June. Almost everything here has been worn, the delicious summer we had meant that my summer clothes were worn a lot.
There are a number of items in this image that haven't been worn yet but some of them have only been in my wardrobe for a few weeks, and have yet to appear in a seasonal capsule wardrobe.
I'm really pleased with my purchases this year. I've bought more pre-loved than new and I think I've got fewer duff purchases than ever before. A breakdown post is in the pipeline.
There are so many purchases I made this year that I completely adore.
Red floral skirt. This was my only January sale purchase. I can't believe I've only had this for a year, I feel like I've been wearing it for years. This skirt never fails to make me smile.
Floral maxi dress. I did only wear this once, but I loved it. It's perfect for summer, it's light, airy and easy to wear. I loved the mustard bag too and used it a lot in the weeks after I bought it, but now it needs mending, and you know me and my mend pile...
Orange maxi skirt. I paid a fiver for this and it has pockets.
I have a bit of a soft spot for anything with a blue floral pattern, add a rara skirt into the mix and I'm smitten. This was £6.00 well spent.
Khaki cropped jeans. I had an inking that I'd quite like a pair of cropped jeans, and ebay obliged offering these up for £10.99.
Yellow jumper. Having convinced myself that I couldn't wear yellow and avoided it for years, I thought I'd give it a go. Turns out, I kinda love it.
I also love the knee high boots I purchased in November, and the long winter coat I bought in December, but these have yet to be photographed. All in all it's been a good year of shopping, I've added so many amazing items to my wardrobe this year, that I'm considering drastically reducing my clothing budget for 2019. I know that complete spending bans don't work for me, but I would like to wear the clothes I have more often, and constantly adding items to my wardrobe makes this harder.
What things have you purchased this year that make you smile?

I think it's been a successful year for you with clothes. I love all the stripey tops you've now got in your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteI did add a few stripes to my already large collection :)
DeleteI'm so pleased with my purchases.
xx
An excellent year for shopping. I love clothes that fall into feeling like old trusty favourites even though they're a new addition. I have been wondering about keeping track of what I accumulate this year (but it may be too scary!) xx
ReplyDeleteYou should! It's easier than it might seem and it has, over the years, helped me to reduce spending and to just be more aware of what I've bought, this helps me to remind me what I've bought so things don;t get forgotten in the back of the wardrobe. That, and I'd be really interested (nosy) to see what you buy too ;)

Just bagged some ankle boots in the january sales 120 quid down to 39 a motorbike accident left me with a wonky foot so am happy to pay for good shoes. Best 2018 bargain was a sparkly jumper free by wangling loyalty vouchers. Happy new year to you i think your mustard bag was your biggest bargain of the year and your new love for yellow made me smile as i never wear it but wish i could :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your accident. Shoes are something I don't mind paying more for, they seem to stay in my wardrobe longer than anything else. I still have a pair of trainers I bought when I was in my 20s, and they're still worn.
DeleteI do like a sparkly jumper, I've been looking for a pre-loved one but have yet to stumble across one, but I'm sure I will one day.
Maybe you should give yellow a try...?
Happy New Year
xx
Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWhat a colourful round-up. I used to be a yellow dodger, too - it's all about finding the right shade. xxx
ha, a yellow dodger, I like that :)

You did really well this year, Hazel. It seems you are really putting a lot of thought into your clothes shopping, something I still have to learn to do. I'm getting there as I seem to make less impulse buys. I even think about possible combinations now. Or at least, sometimes ;-) Love your floral and orange maxi skirts, and how sweet is that blue floral patterned frock with the ra-ra skirt! xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's taken me a while to get to this point, I have to admit. You gotta just keep on keepin' on ;)

I think you've had an excellent buying year! I adore all of your favourite purchases and found myself nodding in agreement on all of your points! You look really pretty in all of them in the pictures!!
ReplyDeleteI was also a 'can't wear yellow' person until I bought a mustard cardigan!x
Thank you! Writing this really cheered me up, looking back at the photos and the outfits bought back some great memories. All of these outfits were worn before going out with family or friends and not only id I feel great in each outfit, I had a lovely time wearing it too.

Yellow really suits you, Hazel! I bought a pair of gold vinyl trousers that make me happy (especially when I get comments on them - not all necessarily complimentary) and a recent purchase was a pair of bright orange ankle boots for the same reason. I love to wear things that others might shy away from x
ReplyDeleteThank you, I might be adding more yellow from here on in.
DeleteGood for you! I like the sound of both the trousers and the boots, I bet both are fabulous!
xx
Thank you for taking the time to comment x
