For the best part of January I thought that I'd have nothing to share with you in this post. I hadn't intended on going shopping at all, but late in the month two appointments took me into town, with an hour to spare between them. Naturally I had a little rummage in a few of my favourite charity shops and came home with this, a green cable jumper originally from Tu for just £2.00.
It has buttons on the cuffs, which I really like, I just don't like the buttons. So, inspired by Ann, who regularly swaps buttons, I'm switching them for a random selection from my button box. Watch this space.
LAST YEAR
All of these items have been worn, and remain in my wardrobe. The red skirt is definitely the favourite and has been worn 25 times so far. I've had to mend it, more than once, but it's still going strong. The green dress, as much as I love it, has only been worn once. This needs to be put into a capsule to ensure it gets the use it deserves.
Total for January: £2.00
Total so far for 2019: £2.00
Total at this time last year: £55.49
Left of £500.00 budget: £498.00
Items purchased: 1 (pre-loved: 1) (new: 0)
It's a great start to the year. My goals are to buy less overall, and for more of my purchases to be pre-loved, so I'm definitely on the right track.
For the fourth year running I'm taking part in A Buyer's Archive inspired by Elise (who sadly doesn't blog anymore but can be found on Instagram), to keep track of my spending on clothes and accessories. Over the years my spending has reduced and changed, I think, in small part, because I keep this record.

I love this jumper. The colour is perfect, rich and colourful enough but without being too bold as to restrict what it's worn with.
ReplyDeleteOnly £2 spent and 1/12 of the way in? Go girl. xx
Funnily enough I did think to myself 'Sophie would like this' when I bought it! I think it'll get a lot of wear.
DeleteI'm really chuffed with my spend so far... let's see how long it lasts - until our next meet up is my guess!
xx
I do couponing and had accumulated £50 worth from my favourite retailer, I bought two green jumpers (one sparkly), not a colour I have worn since school days but it is very warming, I like your green jumper, it will suit your dark hair. Can see it getting lots of use.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a decent chunk of money. I like the sound of a green sparkly jumper.
DeleteI think green really suits dark hair, I haven't worn it much since primary school but it's getting a lot of space in my wardrobe these days.
xx
Well done on spending only £ 2 this month, but what a great find it is. I was reading you didn't like the buttons and thinking oh they're easy enough to change ... and then I read that I'd inspired you to do the same! Thanks for the shout out! I haven't been a good girl at all this month, as lots of stress has triggered lots of retail therapy! xxx
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, I have selected the buttons and plan to make the switch this weekend. I've told myself I'm not allowed to wear the jumper again until I've done it.
DeleteStress is the worst, I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time. Retail therapy really does help, and cat cuddles :)

I love that jumper, what a great bargain! And well done on your monthly spending total! I keep thinking I might do my own buyers archive, but for books not clothes (as I rarely buy clothes!) haha!
ReplyDeleteThat would be an interesting read. I've put myself on a book ban until I've read more form my shelves. I was so close to buying one this month, I was even on my was to the til with it in my hand, but I was very good and put it back. I still can't believe I did it!

Ah, I love this jumper! What a beauty!!! Love the idea of changing the buttons. That is a very Sophie jumper too, I agree! £2 is geeat for January! Trying to think what I've spent- it's sadly much more, I think!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm pleased with both the jumper and the total spend. I'm sure I'll have months when I spend a lot more too.

ReplyDeleteThanks. It's very squishable. I had planned on only keeping one wreath but I seem to have one in the office and one in the dining room...

That colour green really suits you and what a bargain, too! You could be really lazy and pin different colour buttons to your cuffs to match each outfit! x
ReplyDeleteI think I'm too lazy to do that! Fixing them on once sounds enough. Welcome back xx
DeleteHope you are ok.xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for asking. I'm fine, February was just busy and I found no time for blog posting or reading. Normal service will resume soon.
