#BEDN | Something new

Sunday, November 01, 2015

If you hadn't already guessed I'm taking part in Blog Every Day in November, hosted by Elizabeth over at Rosalilium. Are you taking part? Do let me know if you are and I'll give you a visit. I really enjoyed blogging everyday for 40 days, a challenge I set myself on my 40th birthday, but almost immediately lost momentum when the 40 days where up. What better way to get back into it?

Today's prompt is 'something new about myself'. That's a toughie. I can't think of anything in particular. Questions like this make my mind go blank.

So, instead I decided to list 40 random facts about me.

1. I have never seen The Sound of Music from start to finish

2. I was the captain of a majorette troupe

3. I almost lost the top of my right index finger by shutting it in a door

4. I can't roll my tongue

5. I dislike the word 'inspo', I hate having to write 'the word inspo' because it's not a word.

6. Coatigan is also not a word. If it's a cardigan that you wear as a coat, it's still a cardigan

7. I can remember the registration number of a random car we had growing up, but not any of the cars I've owned

8. My college years where some of the unhappiest of my life

9. I am private, not a prude

10. I can't pronounce the word sophomore or statistically

11. I hate to admit how untidy I can be

12. Sometimes I enjoy planning my outfit for an event, more than the event itself

13. I have to spend some time on my own everyday or I start to get tetchy

14. I hate being watched

15. I detest the word 'moist', if something on a menu is described this way (normally cake) I can't order it

16. I worry about everything in some way

17. I can cry at the smallest thing, but can be as hard as stone

18. I don't think being a child automatically makes you likable

19. I hate being interrupted by children

20. In my head all of my friends and family know how much I love and need them

21. In reality, my friends and family really don't know how much I love and need them

22. I judge people by their table manners

23. I don't understand people who can't sit in silence

24. I write in books

25. I wish I'd known my grandparents

26. I'm really awkward around really old people

27. I didn't like olives until I was 33

28. I have a hankering to be an extra in a film

29. I wish I had a friend I'd known all my life

30. At the age of 30 I felt like I was starting life all over again

31. I'm always surprised if I do something well

32. I love the smell of my cat's breath

33. My favourite smell is water - rain , the sea, waterfalls, sometimes just the smell of a cold running  tap

34. Sometimes I do things so that I can blog about them

35. I've watched The Lost Boys more than any other film

36. I judge people by what they do, not what they say

37. I hate being told what to do, which is why being self employed works so well for me

38. Once I've decided I'm done with something, that's it I'm done, there's no going back

39. a purring cat on my lap is one of the most relaxing things in life, a purring cat on my keyboard is just infuriating

40. I'm 40 and still don't feel like a real grown up

  2. wow so many factoids I didn't know about you Hazel! Captain of a majorette troupe indeed. In Suffolk. This surprises me greatly.
Plus it worries me that you judge people on their table manners, eeek. I am clumsy at the table.

    1. All that tells me is that you're clumsy, clumsy is fine. I find it endearing :)
It wasn't a very large, good or successful majorette troupe!

  4. I recently found your blog and have been really enjoying it. I was going to comment and mention which of these facts I relate to but then I realized that I relate to most of them and it was starting to feel a bit weird. Let's just say I could have written 16-23, plus a few random other ones.

Hehe I can see how you'd feel like that, it's nice to know that I'm not alone (and completely off my rocker)

  5. I just found your blog through #BEDN. Can totally relate to no 13 and 30 and Lost Boys is one of the films ever and at 38 I don't feel like a grown up either. Really look forward to reading more.

    1. Thanks for stopping by. No 13 is helped by the fact I work from home, alone - it's glorious! But makes me a little unsociable.

  7. I've not seen The Lost Boys and only watched the Sound of Music for the first time a couple of Christmases ago. I can't stand made up silly words either.

  8. I think we must have the same personalities cause I agreed with most of those ones! No clue what 'inspo' even means... also huge yes to the alone time and manners things - my gran was super into good table manners and now whenever someone is sloppy about that I'm thinking of granny and judging them hard...

  9. I love this kind of post! I didn't even think about doing #BEDN this year, too much else on with working insane hours at the moment. Good luck with it!

  10. Catching up on this! Love your facts, although like Sophie, I am worried about your table manners thing- I am clumsy too!!!! I like the smell of cat breath too! I love being licked by cats but I hate being licked by dogs! Also, yes, some children (that I teach) are not likeable just because they are children-they can be highly irritating!x
