The Perfect Maxi Dress For Work

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

My wardrobe challenge allowed me the time to discover what was missing from my wardrobe and one of the first things I identified was a maxi dress suitable for work.

I work in a relaxed environment where I meet clients on occasion, although not very often, but there are still a few rules that apply despite the relaxed nature of my work place. Obviously anything too tight, short, or revealing is out of the question (not that this is my style anyway) and whilst vest tops and thin straps are tempting as the temperature rises I feel that shoulders should also be covered. As a colleague once said commented 'my co-workers don't need to see my armpits'. She has a point. However this meant that none of my maxi dresses were suitable for work.

Maxi dresses are so easy to wear, cool, fuss-free, with just-add-shoes simplicity, they even allow you a few less than perfectly smooth leg days. So, I went looking and this is what I found;

ASOS T-Shirt Maxi Dress with drawstring waist - half price at £20.00

It has a round neck, short raglan sleeves and a drawstring waist but most importantly it has pockets! This is very exciting, pockets always seem to be a real selling point for me particularly on skirts and dresses. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that they add a casual element - anything too smart or formal makes me want to run for the hills.
