Things To Do This Summer
Friday, July 12, 2019
So summer arrived a few weeks ago, but with one thing and another I didn't get around to posting this. Here are a few things I'd like to do over the summer...
1. Tucking in
I want to eat in a restaurant every day for seven days, be it for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. This is something I tried to do during the week of my birthday last year. I failed, partly due to lack of planning, and partly due to eating waaaaay too much on day one!
2. Getting crafty
Make use of the bag of fabric scraps I've been collecting. I have a plan, I now just need to execute it.
3. Going Coastal
Spend a day at the beach, I'm talking 9 to 5 - fish n chips followed by ice cream, a morning stroll on the promenade, and an afternoon reading on the beach, interspersed with a little paddling in the surf.
4. Rocking it
I found @stonesofjoy1 via Ann, who's recently joined Instagram - Welcome Ann! - they paint stones with pretty things and write inspirational messages for people to find, and I want to paint my own stone to be found. Maybe I'll leave one on the beach...?
5. Day tripping
Take a trip to Snape Maltings and Marlsford Mill. Snape Maltings have art exhibitons that are always worth a look and Marlsford Mill offers a collection of furniture, antiques and curios that I always enjoy perusing, I don't buy something every time I go...
6. Finishing off
The bedroom redecoration needs to be finished, the time it's taking has gone beyond ridiculous.
7. Visibly mending
I have some jeans, a parasol, a picnic blanket, and a large bag that all need attention. I want to put my hours of scrolling through the #visiblemending hashtag on Instagram to good use.
8. Baking goodies
Make a giant Jaffa cake, and Bourbon biscuit brownies
What's the summeriest thing you can think of doing?

Summeriest thing? Next weekend we're doing a two day vintage festival on Bexhill-on-Sea's promenade. I haven't seen the English seaside for 52 years! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat? Wait, what? 52 years! I hope you get the opportunity to have a paddle and soak up the vitamin sea. I don't get to the seaside very often but find it so restorative when I do. I'm going with my Dad tomorrow to see an art exhibition, and then it's ice creams on the beach - no matter what the weather!
DeleteHave fun in Bexhill-on-Sea!
xx
Lots of lovely things to look forward to there. I think a day at the seaside is very summery, something I definitely hope to do myself very soon.
ReplyDeleteIt's been years since I spent an entire day at the beach, I'm really looking forward to it!

Oh, now I want to make a giant jaffa cake .
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with the seven days of eating out challenge this time. We ate out almost every day during our renovation, apart from a few days where we just had sandwiches.
We can have a bake off! :)
DeleteFor the eating out, I just need to be more organised this year, plan it a little better
xx
I just did 3 yesterday, a day out in Brighton sunbathing, exploring the vintage shops. Summeriest thing is probably that but I should have ice cream next time :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely day.
DeleteIce cream is almost compulsory when at the beach!

While I love the seaside, I prefer to visit it in low season, as I don't like the crowds, and there's not much scope on the Belgian seaside to escape them. The summeriest thing for me is being able to have breakfast in the garden and to go for days out when I'm looking enough to have a day off in the middle of the week. Oh, and going for outsite flea markets or participating in one, like I will tomorrow. Thanks for the shout out, by the way. I took my stone of joy home, and I'm thinking of rehiding it here in Belgium. xxx
ReplyDeleteI like the seaside outside of the school holidays, but there is a certain appeal to a sunny day at the beach.
DeleteI like breakfast al fresco too, I must get my table and chairs out onto the patio.
It would be lovely to rehide your Stone of Joy in Belgium! I wonder where else it might end up!?

Oooh, these all sound super ways to spend your Summer doing!!!! I like the beach idea too. I'd also like the 7 days of eating out thing too! That sounds great. I await the visible mending with bated breath= I can imagine it being wonderful!x
ReplyDeleteIt's a list I'm looking forward to completing! I have lots of ideas for the visible mending, I just hope my sewing skills are up to the challenge!

A giant jaffa cake sounds epic! The beach is such a treat in the summer if you can avoid the crowds xx
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it? I was going to wait for an occasion, but sod it, I'm just going to make it, and eat it!

I love this list! I just got back from a camping trip and tubing down the river, and have a beach day planned for later this month. I need to know more about this bourbon biscuit brownie. 3 of my favorite things! Do you have a recipe?
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI love camping and am going away soon for 4 nights, which I'm really looking forward to.
I found a recipe on Pinterest, I'll share a link when I've made it.
xx
Thank you for taking the time to comment x
