Capsule Wardrobe | July

Monday, July 02, 2018

For the summer season I'm going to try something a little different for my capsule wardrobe.

I've decided to do it monthly.

When looking at all my summer clothes and trying to decide what to put into my summer capsule, I realised that I've a lot of summer items I want to wear, but far too many for just one capsule.

Here's the July edit, featuring some old favourites and some new purchases, and also some items that have been ignored for far too long.

To put this together I went through all my clothes picking out anything that I looked at and thought 'I want to wear that', and then I filled in the gaps. There are a lot of skirts and dresses, with a few options for cooler weather, because this is the UK after all. That said I do hope that the glorious weather we've been having stays around for a while yet.

I'd like to add a pair of cropped jeans to my wardrobe, and I have a hankering for a sequin top, so I'll be keeping my eyes open for them in the coming weeks. Until then I'll be enjoying this new capsule.

Hope you're enjoying the summer so far.

  1. Hi! Where did you get that cute green dress you're wearing? I've been looking for something like that and can't find anything. I want a sort of t shirt type dress but yours is perfect. We are having a heat wave here in NJ (US) and it's too hot! Arlene from NJ

    1. Hi Arlene, this dress is from ASOS, it's lovely for summer as it's a really light material. We're having lots of hot sunny weather too, I'm rather enjoying it!
      Keep cool!

    1. Since taking this photo I've shortened the sleeves and I much prefer it. Loving green at the moment, I'm drawn to it but you don't see it on the rails much.

  3. The first thing I noticed is the amount of green in your capsule! It does make sense doing a monthly capsule instead of a seasonal one. Love the dress you're wearing, the colour really suits you! xxx

    1. I have too many summer clothes to have a seasonal capsule! I am loving the green, I'm hoping to find some green material to make a skirt...

  4. you can't go wrong with cropped jeans, I buy a pair every year and now have four pairs, so versatile and comfy - would be a great investment buy as the sales are now on! My white ones get the most use.

    1. I've seen a khaki pair on ebay that I nearly purchased new last year. As long as they don't get to a silly price I hope to make them mine.
I'm not sure white trousers are a good idea living on a farm, that, and I'm a bit clumsy!

  5. Love the green dress! Summer is the best, all of my favourite clothes are for Summer!!! I found a lovely turquoise sequin top in the charity shop in May and very much regret not buying it! It was so nice, fitted me perfectly! WHY didn't I buy it!??!

    1. I think mine are too. You should've bought it Kezzie! I do that sometimes, and I always regret it. At the time I tell myself that I don't need it, I've already got loads of clothes, but if you find something you love, and it fits, you should definitely get it, especially if it's pre-loved (I think I'm trying to convince myself here, more than I am you - hehe).
