A Buyer's Archive | June '18
Saturday, June 30, 2018For the third year running I'm taking part in A Buyer's Archive inspired by Elise, to keep track of my spending on clothes and accessories.
THIS YEAR
All of this month's purchases are pre-loved.
Mink maxi skirt £3.50. Can't resist a maxi, and as they stay in my wardrobe year after year I don't feel bad about adding another on to my collection. It's deliciously soft and the rolled waistband makes it incredibly comfortable.
Pink v neck top £3.25, originally from Next. I have this in black and love it, the shape is really flattering, it needs minimal ironing, and fits into my wardrobe nicely.
White shirt £3.25 originally from Primark. This is only classic white shirt in my wardrobe, 100% cotton and very soft.
LAST YEAR
The yellow shorts (£3.70 from ebay) weren't worn last year but they've been added to my Summer Capsule (post to come soon), and I know exactly how I'm going to wear them.
Denim shorts (£1.99 from ebay, originally M&S) have been worn numerous times - I'm wearing them as I type - I like the longer length and they tend to come out for days pottering at home.
The Monsoon gypsy top (£3.70 from ebay) caught my eye. I thought it would be cotton but it's jersey so it hasn't seen the light of day since then.
My epic green ASOS skirt (£25.60 with 20% discount) was my only new purchase of June last year. Regular readers will know that it's been worn a lot.
I purchased this Hobbs gingham top for £17.17 from ebay. I really wanted it but when it arrived it didn't fit well. I thought about altering it but it was beyond my limited skills. It's in a pile waiting to be listed on ebay...
The floral print wrap top (£3.50 from ebay) feels awkward to wear so it won't be staying in my wardrobe either.
My final purchases were a floral shirt dress (£4.49 charity shop), and a pre-loved French Connection skirt (£3.00). Both have been worn only once, so I've put them in the Summer Capsule too. It's the perfect weather for pretty bright florals!
Total for June £16.00
Total so far for 2018: £224.22
Total at this time last year: £332.10
Left of £600.00 budget: £375.78
I always seem to buy a lot of clothes in the warmer months, which is probably the wrong way to do it as we get more bad weather than good. I just feel more inclined to make an effort in the warmer months, you don't have to worry about layers and coats, dressing feels effortless.
I'm consistently spending less each month than last year which is pleasing, and I've purchased more pre-loved than new this year, score currently stands at 14 new items vs 20 pre-loved.
What have you been buying this month?

Well done on buying only pre-loved things in June! Love the ra-ra dress. I think my clothes buying for the warmer and colder months are about the same, although I did have to go out and buy a couple of Summer frocks as an emergency while in the UK, as I mainly packed for colder weather ... xxx
ReplyDeleteYou picked a good time to come, the weather has been glorious! The ra-ra dress is a really light fabric, so will be perfect if this weather continues (fingers and toes crossed!).
DeleteHope you enjoyed the UK
xx
My hot weather vastly clothing outnumbers my cold stuff - you'd think I lived in Hawaii rather than the UK. I can't help it - jumpers, coats and sensible stuff just don't float my boat! x
ReplyDeleteI'm the same, I'm just glad this summer has been kind, so far!
DeleteWhen the temperature drops I'm rarely inspired to wear anything other than jeans.

Well done on the preloved! All the items look very versatile and the rara is cuuuuuuuuuuuute!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? I love anything with a blue floral pattern (my bedspread and curtains are similar), and when I saw it had a ra-ra skirt I knew it would be coming home with me.
