Wardrobe Déjà vu

Monday, June 17, 2013

This is my wardrobe about a year ago after a severe sort out, the neatness really didn't last long!
So far the great wardrobe sort out hasn't gone very well. I take everything out, and then put it back again, I've done this three times now. Progress is slow.

I had a good look through the mend pile and discarded most of it, I figured if I haven't felt the need to mend it since moving nearly two years ago, it wasn't ever going to happen.

The shoe realisation helped create some space but I still need more room, especially as I also have suitcase full of summer clothes under my bed. I suppose I can thank the British summer for saving me the task of finding a home for all that. Yet. (I live in hope).

I'm also finding that I wear fewer and fewer of my clothes these days. Working from home often finds me pulling on jeans and a top, knowing that I'm not going to be going out or seeing anyone (man, that sounds creepy). It's not that I don't care what I look like but more that I don't want to waste a great outfit on a nondescript day. Am I the only one...?

Anyway, I'm wondering if it's cheating to just buy a second wardrobe and keep all my dresses in my new office instead? Divide and conquer. Mr Joy has promised me wardrobe doors, and when they're fitted I'm going to need to be able to close them.

  1. Your wardrobe is so organised. I'm having serious thoughts about my storage situation at the moment. I need to get rid of some things, so many of my clothes are ridiculously too big for me, they really need to go but I sort of can't bring myself to get rid.

    1. I wish it still looked like this! My plan it to get it back to this... somehow! I have the same issue, I just can't seem to make myself part with anything.

  2. I can highly recommend being separated for most of your wardrobe for 6 months apart from absolute essentials. I went back to Preston this weekend to begin the packing before the boyfriend moves to the Midlands to join me - I'm looking forward to having greater choice than the 2 tshirts I've currently got at my sister's but it allowed me to be ruthless and just get rid of everything that doesn't fit/isn't quite right/doesn't suit me.

    I'll do yours! I'm RUTHLESS.

    1. Thanks. The shelves are from Argos but now I have plastic shoe boxes from Dunelm - see through and much easier for swift show selection!

  4. I have just done the same with my wardrobe. It is so much easier to find something to wear now. I tend to hoard quite a lot of clothes but i decided if something hasn't been worn for well over a year then it had to go.
