Inspiration Monday : Blake Lively
Monday, January 07, 2013During my late teens and well into my time at college I wore black. A lot. Black and denim with a very occasional white t-shirt thrown in. These days I don't think I carry it off as well as I used to (if I ever did!) and so I couldn't bring myself to make like Blake and go all black, so I added my Custard Designs pink bag, just to break it up a little bit.
The boots I'm wearing here are nearing the end of their life. I bought them from New Look eons ago. I wasn't sure about them at first but with the assurance that they were 'lovely' from a trusted friend I kept them. I'm so glad I did, I've worn them so much - I love that they are heeled but are also really quite casual. I've been looking for a similar pair but so far have had no luck (I'm not keen on the wedge versions that are currently widely available). I probably should have stopped wearing these months ago, they are split on the sole and the heels are now worn away but I just can't bring myself to let go just yet…
Do you have anything in your wardrobe that you can't part with, even though you probably should?

You always manage to totally nail the IM look! Even though I like wearing bright colours, I also love wearing black! I have many things I should chuck out of my wardrobe- I have this 1970's cheese-cloth top that was my Mum's that I dragged round Indonesia for a year and I chewed the end of the right-handsleeve (disgusting habit I know, goodness knows why I did it with this top, some sort of nervous habit at the time I guess) and it should really go but I love it!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could throw out that cheesecloth top either, it seems too sentimental to get rid of.
DeleteCan you get your boots re-soled? Sometimes if I love something enough I'll pay the money to have to fixed as opposed to settling for something I don't love as much.
ReplyDeleteThe thought did cross my mind but they're rubber soles, a bit like Converse, but with a heel so I doubt there is anything that can be done :(
Deletei have an old pair of boots that i don't wear that often because they are so torn apart...but i can't let go!! i love this look on you. the scarf is so pretty and the bag is the perfect pop!
ReplyDeleteI like your take and the way you tied your scarf
ReplyDeleteGood for you for adding the pop of color

Hazel! Great job! I love your scarf and hot pink bag and a cool kitty cat in the shot, too. LOL
ReplyDeleteAh you look fab! It's made me want to wear my black jeans but mine are covered in cat hair :(
