What week is it?

I think we're on Week 19? I don't know, I think I've given up counting. I haven't been up to much. I've been working a lot.

I finished watching The Great British Sewing Bee, and thought the right person won, she'd been consistently good throughout, whereas the other finalists had a few disasters.

Once I'd finished watching that I started, and soon finished, watching The Luminaries, which I really enjoyed. I kept wondering where I'd seen Emery Staines before, played by Himesh Patel, I knew he was in the film Yesterday recently but it took me ages to realise he used to play Tamwar in Eastenders!

Have you been watching any of the old re-runs of Eastenders on Tuesday evenings (is it Tuesdays?). They're hilarious.

Next on the list is Mrs America and I May Destroy You. Have you seen either of these?

The highlight of the passed few weeks was taking part in A Bloggers Art Gallery, writing the post and then exploring everyone else's art has been really enjoyable, and it's taken me on a journey into the world of online independent artists, purchases will be, of that I am sure.

There has been much garden and greenhouse pottering, I've harvested and eaten our first batch of potaotes, and the only other thing I've been doing is road testing some new recipes. Tonight I'm going to make a Tikka sauce from scratch to make a curry. Since lockdown began I've slipped back into using jars of ready made sauces, and it's a habit I'd like to get out of.

The elastic for my face mask has arrived today so if the prototype is successful I'll be making a few more this weekend.

Other than that life has been very quiet, I've seen my Dad, and my Mum and few times, and next week I'm going to see one of my best friends for the first time since early 2020. We're going to the beach and I think chips may very well be involved.

I've been continuing with Wearing It All 2020, although my hopes that I'd be wearing lots of my summer clothes have been dashed.

The weather has improved since WIA Week 1 but we're in for rain again this weekend, which means summer dresses are highly unlikely.

So that's my ramble for the passed few weeks. Not much to report really, I'm still staying inside as much as possible but I've been giving some thought to the places I can visit over the coming weeks. I've been inspired by how people have been choosing to spend the money they've saved during lockdown, buying art for example, or shopping with local businesses. I think I'd like to visit a few art galleries, a local zoo, and an even more local rare breeds farm. These places have really taken a hit recently and they're the places I always say I'd like to visit but never actually seem to get there. So now I will.

Hope you have a great weekend!
Take care xx

  1. love the red flowery skirt. I used hat elastic for my face masks, it works really well. I think we are stuck with them for the future, so may as well make lots of pretty ones.

    1. That skirt is a particular favourite of mine.
I have plenty of fabric so I can get mask making now that the elastic has arrived, then I suppose I'll have no excuse not to go out.

  2. p.s. I have struggled to get into Miss America, it's slow and lacks something to pull it together (for me anyway) haven't started the Luminaries yet, that's next.

    1. I found The Luminaries a bit hard to follow at first as it jumps back and fourth in time but it was worth persevering.
I'll try Mrs America, it has so many good actors in it, perhaps it'll get better as it draws to it's conclusion...?

  3. Our weather is a bit like yours, I think. We had some improvement last week, with a couple of gorgeous Summer days earlier this week, but then our hopes got dashed again as we're back to grey skies and drizzle. I haven't even made a dent in my Summer clothes. Well done on harvesting your first batch of potatoes. Pottering around house and garden is about all I've been up to lately. I can't really seem to get into anything. And while I haven't been watching much television, I did catch the odd old Eastenders episode, and found them quite hilarious too! xxx

    1. I've worn a few bits and pieces but the grey skies mean jeans and long sleeves are more likely. Today I started off in shorts but it's been so changeable I'm in jeans again (insert eye roll emoji).
I've since harvested more potatoes and some peas and cucumbers, it's lovely to be eating these things after all the watering :)
There's no pressure to do anything at the moment, take your time and do what feels right for you.

  4. Loving the red skirt on you!
I adored The Luminaries. I didn't know that the actress who played Anna Wetherall was Bono's daughter until halfway through the series.
Mrs America was fantastic, we had to ration ourselves so we didn't watch the whole lot in one go. Cate Blanchett was superb and the attention to detail with the 1960s & 1970s costumes was spot on. I'm still puzzled as to why any women in their right minds would campaign against equal rights for women!!
I'm eagerly awaiting our potato crop. Good luck with the tikka making! xxx

    1. It's been worn a lot, I need to hem it - again.
I had no idea she was Bono's daughter. Although I can see it now you've said it.
I'm looking forward to Mrs America, but I'm a bit worried it will distract me from working. The mind boggles that women would protest against it, but then change can be scary for a lot of people, I guess.
      Our potatoes were lovely!

  6. I picked out the winner of the Sewing Bee right from the start, she stood out for me and as you say, was consistent throughout. I've just finished watching the second series of After Life with Ricky Gervais, it has me laughing and crying in equal measure, a real rollercoaster of emotions.

    1. Oo yes, I've heard a lot of good things about After Life, but I'd forgotten all about it, that's going my watch list too, thanks for the reminder!

  7. I thoroughly enjoyed the sewing bee, it was another very lovely series. I didn't know who they would crown until they announced it! But didn't you think her Mum was a bit rude though, as if she couldn't believe her daughter could win. Bit odd!
I do love your summer outfits, that blue and white floor length dress is so lovely and the pinkish tunic dress is such a lovely one.
I've not found anything to get my teeth into on TV except re-runs of the Repair Shop and staple Gardener's World. We've been going through box sets. The White Queen, The Borgias and now The Tudors.
I've been reluctant to go out to populated places more than necessary, but what's new there? xx

    1. It was a bit odd, wasn't it?
The blue and white dress and the tunic are old items, neither has been worn for ages. The long one has been worn a lot in the past but ended up in the mend pile for a few years waiting to be taken up, I've tripped over it so many times, it's a bit of a hazard but I threw caution to the wind and just wore it again! I only tripped once ;)
I like the repair shop and love Gardener's World.
I'm the same, I don't get out much and mix with others, I have felt the need to show my face in the outside world for a bit though. Maybe I'll pop to the local village charity shop...?
      xx
