Three Things I Should Stop Doing Right Now
Wednesday, April 12, 20171. Wasting hours scrolling through social media feeds on my phone
And go out and do something less boring instead (those of you of a similar age might remember that from Why Don't you? A kid's TV series from the 70s and 80s about not watching TV. An odd concept if you think about it...)
2. Eating supper slumped on the sofa
My digestion and posture will thank me, we can have a conversation instead of mindlessly watching whatever crap happens to be being broadcast. A chat with my husband will always be infinitely more interesting than The One Show.
3. Compare myself to others
What's that saying? Comparison is the thief of joy. Ain't that the truth. I only ever feel that I need to do more, earn more, be further along in life when I start with the pointless comparisons. I like my life and where I'm at, I need to remember that.

I have been comparing lately too and I only ever come off second best. Sucks. Must stop doing that. xx
ReplyDeleteYes, you must. No good can come of it.
DeleteAll valid, particularly the second one. I keep meaning to get around to actually using our dining room although my husband has started buying loads of drums (he is a drummer but honestly, who needs three kits?) which are now cluttering up the space.
ReplyDeleteThreaten to use his drums as place mats ;) (three? honestly!)
DeleteAs I'm getting older, I've learned that it's no use comparing yourself to others, although I'm still guilty as charged from time to time. I'm blaming social media ;-) The main thing is that you like your life, which is good! xxx
ReplyDeleteSocial media certainly doesn't help! But I am getting better as I get older, it still creeps in here and there though. I don't think I'll ever stop comparing, but it's getting easier to shut it down.
DeleteI am SO bad at mindless Facebooking - but so easy to do!

It's Instagram that sucks me in every. single. time.
DeleteThese all really resonate with me - especially number 1, which I am struggling with at the moment. I find myself frustrated at the end of every day that all I've achieved outside work has been staring at my phone or laptop, yet even that frustration doesn't seem enough to motivate me to go out and do something less boring instead*.
ReplyDelete* Yes, I remember Why Don't You? very well, it was my absolute favourite programme when I was a kid.
So annoying isn't it? All that time that could be put to better use...
DeleteYep to 1 and 2! Not really been doing much of 3 at the moment, somehow don't seem to care at the moment!x
ReplyDeleteThat's a good thing, comparison achieves so little. I have been a little better with the mindless scrolling, but eating at the table still doesn't happen (and I have to walk around the table to get to the sofa!!)
DeleteYou should, they're not good for the body or the soul!
ReplyDeleteI've yet to find anyone like me so its impossible to compare. Blogging often inspires me but never makes me feel inferior. I can only access the internet via my PC so if I'm travelling, at a festival, out or in the garden it's just me and whosoever's company I chose to spend time in.
We always eat at the table even if we're alone. The cats would steal everything if we dared take food into the lounge! xxx
I have known for such a long time that all the things are bad, it doesn't stop me doing them though. But as long as I keep trying...
DeleteI have to put my phone in another room to stop myself from scrolling through Instagram all night!
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to comment x
