Looking back
Friday, January 03, 2014At this time of year I always feel really nostalgic and spend a lot of time looking back over the year. I noticed that on this day last year I entered the Style Is ethical outfit competition wearing this and I thought it would be fun to recreate the outfit for today. You never know, one day I might actually wear this in the summer months, as intended when I bought it!
Dress, charity shop | Top, Jigsaw via charity shop | Scarf, charity shop | Boots, Dorothy Perkins | Bag, Monsoon via charity shop | Watch, Fossil via boyfriend for Christmas
I always thought that this dress would look cute with a stripey top underneath so I popped on this one but all other elements remain the same. The top is originally from Jigsaw bit I picked it up in a charity shop for about £3.00. The label says 'hand wash only' but I took a gamble (wash by hand? I think not) and chucked it in on a 30 wash and y'know what? It's perfectly fine.
I've also been thinking a lot about the year ahead and I've read a lot of your posts on what you have planned for 2014 and I have to say you're a creative lot, full of good ideas, of which I am going to steal many! Full credit will be given obviously, but I'm letting January pass before I set out my plan for the year. It's going to be a hectic few weeks and my focus will be almost entirely on work. But this is a good thing, please do not think I am complaining, I am loving the new challenges that freelancing brings!
Do you ever look back at your blog and think 'ohh that's nice, I haven't worn that in a while'?
Love

I've never done an outfit post and wouldn't know where to start but like so many other bloggers, you make it look effortless. Great watch and outfit. I have a good basis for 2014 goals but am certainly going to steal some of the others I've seen around the blogosphere. No shame in it! :D
ReplyDeleteOh there are many, many photos where I don't look relaxed - ask anyone who does outfit posts and they'll say the same!
DeleteI always see other peoples resolutions and wonder why I hadn't thought of those. Same with me and washing machines, if it wont go in there it wont get washed. Dry cleaning? Jog on. Hand wash? I think not.
ReplyDeleteYour new watch is simply gorgeous, did you choose it or was it a surprise? x
It wasn't a complete surprise, I featured two watches in a wish list post in December and then sent the link to Andy. But I didn't know if he'd take the (huge) hint.
DeleteMwa ha, nice to know there are at least 3 of us in the can't-handwash,don't-handwash mindset. I had things in my washing basket for well over a year when I was conscientious about it and now I just bung it in or hopefully don't buy in.the first place! I like your stripes and ,watch!
DeleteThat dress is so pretty. And it goes really well with the striped top underneath. You can never go wrong with stripes! Ever.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit it looks so comfy and cosy. I never handwash anything either. Hoping to be running some more outfit comps in 2014. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love that I'm not the only one who ignores hand wash instructions. That said I've just lost a jumper to shrinkage.
DeleteI'll be looking out for your comps :) x
Thank you for taking the time to comment x
