Product Trial - Rimmel's Lash Accelerator Mascara

Friday, October 29, 2010

Did I mention that I am a sucker for any new beauty product that promises to make me a glossier, calmer, more attractive version of me? Well, it is true.

Most recently I have succumbed to the promises of Rimmel's Lash Accelerator Mascara.

What they say...
Lash Accelerator Mascara is our first mascara that actually helps to promote the natural growth of beautifully long, remarkably strong lashes. Instantly, your lashes will look up to 80% longer, but then after 30 days of continued use, they’ll appear up to 117% longer looking. Our first mascara with GROW-LASH complex, Lash Accelerator promises to strengthen lashes, renewing and restoring them. Stop the press, we’re in lash heaven!

And with its unique length enhancing brush, you can achieve a stronger, fuller flutter. R.I.P false eyelashes, we’ve got all we need with Lash Accelerator Mascara.

What I say...
Firstly, please allow me to introduce my lashes. Reasonable length, very fine, not very dark considering that I am brunette and poker straight. I discovered lash curlers in my mid teens but after a nasty tripping incident I only use them on VERY special occasions. They still scare me.

Secondly, my lashes take time to accept a new mascara, the first application is always a disaster. My lashes spit and splutter as if they don't like the taste of it. I have learnt to persevere none-the-less.

I have tried mascaras that promise fuller lashes, longer lashes, more defined lashes etc. Results have always been a disappointment but this new wave of mascaras that claim to promote lash growth have me feeling rather optimistic.

The brush is a nice shape to use, it tapers towards the end so you can get into the corners nicely and I like the consistency - its light and goes on in thin layers which build up evenly. So you can keep layering up for a night time look or keep it lighter for daytime.

After two weeks of using this daily I begun to notice a change. Perhaps not longer or fuller but I certainly now have lashes closer to the ones I want.

After a month, I am really pleased with the results, I like this mascara. Again, I'm not sure if there is any change in length or fullness, I certainly don't have the 117% longer looking lashes they claim,  but my lashes do seem more receptive to this formula. After years of badly behaved lashes this has been a godsend. I don't think any mascara will ever give me the false lash effect, but this is the best I have tried so far.

If you can recommend any others for me to try, please do!

  1. That certainly looks like a good mascara - am always on the look out for a new one to try. The older I get the more lush-lash obsessed I get! You have gorgeous eyes. And I'm still cringing at the tripping with an eyelash curler story... ouch! xxx
