May Outfits | June Capsule

Tuesday, June 04, 2019

When I put my most recent capsule together I was clearly hoping the weather was going to be similar to what we had in May last year.

We had more wind and rain and much less sun than I'd bargained for. As a result 8 items in this capsule weren't worn, and I had to add warmer items - two long cardigans.

I've been putting together capsules for a few years, you'd think I'd have sussed it by now, but I'm always a little too optimistic about the weather!

My outfits show how the weather went back and fourth between being warm enough for bare arms and ankles, to cool enough for layers, and everything in between. But there was not enough sun, not nearly enough, jeans dominated my outfits. I love my jeans but I was looking forward to wearing some dresses, and my new yet-to-be-worn jumpsuit.

To make up for it I wore it on the first and second day of June, it was a delight to wear and lovely and cool in the heat.

24 piece capsule for June

The warm weather has once again given way to clouds. I've probably still been too optimistic with my capsule for the coming month. My summer wardrobe far outweighs my winter one and I want to wear my summer gear as much as possible, and girl can hope, right?

I've got two items that have never appeared in a capsule before, a few old favourites, and 18 of the 24 items are pre-loved. Now all I need is plenty of sunshine!

    1. Thanks. It's so easy to wear I'm sure it'll earn it's keep.
It was bright when I woke up this morning, now it's been raining for hours. Andy will be pleased with the rain but I'd like the sun back!

  2. That's the thing about the British weather, you have to plan for every eventuality. Raining here today, not a bit of sun to be seen.

    1. So. Much. Rain! Nice weather for ducks, as they say.
I have outfits I can wear in cooler weather, and some for warm, I think the capsule will 'work' I just don't think I'll get to wear as many summer outfits as I'd like.

  5. Putting together a capsule should be a doddle if the weather behaved as it should! The way it is, there will be bad decisions now and again. I'd be notoriously bad at it, anyway. Our UK holiday is coming up in just over two weeks, and I'm already waking up in a sweat over what to take ... That jumpsuit is fabulous, and suits you very well, indeed! xxx

I hope you get your packing conundrum sorted soon, there's nothing worse than fretting. I hope the UK weather is kind and you have a lovely time!

  6. Mine is a travelling one this month as we are away for a month to japan, we pack light as I love Japanese fashion, so a suitcase in a suitcase, plus the bonus of a washing machine at the hotel. It’s the same one we always stay in.
My sister gave me a good tip, pack an outfit in your carry on in case they loose your bag I never thought of that !
Love the wardrobe and the blue dress , that would go well with my blue hair lol.
You can never get English summers right I’m Dutch and I still can’t work them out!!!

    1. Oh I hope you have a great trip! Japan is somewhere I'd love to visit. I like the carry on tip, I always take spare undies but hadn't thought of a while outfit.
I love that blue dress too, it's so light and easy to wear.
English summer will forever be an enigma
