One View, 12 Months

Friday, January 11, 2019

No.60 on my Day Zero Project list was to photograph a landscape across 12 months and turn it into a calendar. This view is what I see from my office window at home. The field adjoins our back garden and I chose this to photograph because it's a view that's so familiar to me. When you see it day after day it always looks the same but I knew it changed and wanted to capture it.

  1. what a great idea, I love the Autumn pictures particularly. I used to get online photo calendars done with pics of momentus holidays/events over the previous year - you reminded me it would be fun to have a new one.

    1. Thanks Sophie. I'm searching for my landscape for this year. I want to find a place with something in the foreground, as well as a nice view...

  3. Absolutely beautiful, Hazel! January and November are my favourites. Just seeing those cloudless skies of the summer months seems crazy now we're into the gloom and cold of the winter - can barely remember what it feels like to be hot! x

    1. Ah yes, those beautiful skies. Summer does seem a long, long time ago... but only a few months and it'll start to warm up again!

    1. The skies were breathtaking, now they've turned a dull grey, but the misty morning and frosts are pretty.

  5. This is gorgeous! I particularly like October. I would love to do this but the view out my window is nowhere near as scenic! I'll have to think about options.

    1. Thank you.
It doesn't have to be a view from your window, it can anywhere you go regularly. I'm still pondering my view for this year.

    1. My favourite from a photographic point of view is December. But from a memory point of view it's June and July. It's such a lovely time of year on the farm, all the fields look so pretty, the sky so blue, I love the way wheat sways in the wind, it looks like the sea sometimes and can be mesmerizing.

  8. This is a great series. I love doing this! I did it with trees in 2013 and 2014 but haven't done anything similar since, though I think about it every year and am always seeing trees and thinking 'that would be a good monthly photo tree'!

    1. I had a lovely tree in mind for this year but it was blown over before Christmas. It was dead, and had been for years, but withstood many a battering from high winds. Obviously it had had enough. Searching for another one for this year...
