At the end of June I put myself on a three month spending ban. In July I didn't purchase anything, but in August I went into town for the first time in months, and the lure of the charity shops was too strong to resist. I was a bit like a kid in a sweet shop and came home with three clothing items (and four books), but I could've bought more. I bought two tops and a skirt, all £3.50 each. I've worn them all already.
A bit later on in the month my local charity shop opened it's doors again and I popped in to drop off a bag of donations. Whilst there I had to have a look around, right? I bought another three items (navy vest top £2.90, shorts £2.00, black vest top £1.99), all in the sale.
Then I purchased a pre-loved Seasalt dress for £9.50.
In September I found three really lovely summer tops on ebay, totaling £17.99 (one of the tops was brand new with tags, so I paid a little more than usual, the other two were the same top in different colours).
I've completely failed my challenge to buy only one item per month this year, but I really like all my purchases so I'm not sorry, I've purchased a lot less than last year. I've purchased 19 items so far this year, which is how many items I purchased in August alone last year...
These are all of last year's August purchases. I no longer own the pink Geek t-shirt, the seams twisted after a few washes, or the mint green blouse. I liked it but couldn't find a single thing in my wardrobe to pair it with (that I liked), so I donated it back to the charity shop I bought it from. Everything else is still in use.
Total at this time last year: £305.73
Left of £200.00 budget: £1.65
Items purchased: 19 (pre-loved: 15) (new: 4)
For the fifth year running I'm keeping track of my spending on clothes, shoes, and accessories with A Buyer's Archive.
