Week 14, 15 & 16
Friday, July 03, 2020I've sat in the sun, been battered by the wind, and rained on.
I've watched old episodes of Eastenders on Tuesday evenings.
I've made a bag of Cadbury's Chocolate Eclairs last for over a week (previously unheard of).
I've waged war on the carpet moths in my bedroom.
I've driven our new (to us) car and finally got used to the brakes.
I've been reading non-fiction.
I've eaten mangetout sun-warmed, straight from the plant.
I've worked longer hours than normal.
I've inhaled the scent of the old school roses in our garden.
I've eaten socially distanced fish and chips with my Dad in the early evening sunshine.
I've been trying to capture a mouse that lives in our kitchen for days!!
I've had a particularly challenging client, who can't make up his mind.I've drunk a G&T at my desk at 3pm in the afternoon (see above).
I've had a day off, midweek, and spent the day doing just as I pleased.
I've completed a 21 Day Meditation Challenge.
I've wondered why anyone would want to sit on a crowded beach.
I've wanted to drive to a beach very early in the morning to avoid crowds. I haven't... yet.
I've wondered why anyone would want to visit a pub or restaurant any time soon.
I've found a Post Office that is easy to get to, devoid of people, and feels safe to use.
I've decided it's OK to start selling my unwanted clothes on ebay again.
I've been trying to decide when to dig up my potatoes.
I've cut Andy's hair for the second time.
I've just realised that I completely forgot to take part in #photoanhour in June.
I've just spent 2 hours ironing.
I've purchased moisturiser that isn't Olay for the first time in decades.
I've forgotten to send cards for people's birthdays.
I've eaten pasta everyday.
I've created a photo book of all the candid photos from our wedding.
I've been missing my yearly visit to Latitude, even though it wouldn't have happened yet.
I've enjoyed not having to be anywhere or see anyone at any particular time.
I've learned the meaning of the word 'alacrity' (brisk and cheerful readiness).
What have you been up to?

I loved this and found myself nodding in agreement to a lot of your points! xxx

some of the above, walking everyday with hubby which we never had time for before and watching very old (30 years) holiday videos.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying the extra time for such things. How lovely to have old videos to watch!

What a lovely post, Hazel. I'm thinking of taking the same approach for my private journal, as I think it's a brilliant way to look back on what you've done (or not done) with your time. I've been watching the old Eastenders episodes too and if I had my way I'd eat pasta every day! And now I know the meaning of the word "alacrity" too. xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you. I sometimes use this for my diary but it;s rare that I write anything at all.
DeleteI'm enjoying the old Eastenders, there are so many characters I'd forgotten about.
I'm yet to use alacrity in conversation, I'll be chuffed when I do :)

pasta every day? crikey!
ReplyDeleteI don't feel like I've done much of note. I think my diary would be 'same as last week'. It's like I'm on a bit of elastic back and forth the same places
Small amounts of pasta but yes, it's easy and I've been feeling lazy.
DeleteI don't feel like my days change much until I look at all the little differences.

I rather like this list format for a post and it seems like a pretty good list to me! We definitely have these in common...

We've spent about a month totally transforming the garden, working in all weathers and it's been a rather all consuming project as we had help from family so had to get certain things done in time for their coming to do particular jobs! I've loved spending so much time outside but have definitely been overdoing it a bit and really struggled with the hot days we've had! So good to have done something in the garden after three years just not having the time... it's not finished yet but the worst of the hard work is over and I'm looking forward to being able to sit out there and enjoy it in the not too distant future!
I do like a list, and it felt like a nice way to convey what had been going on.
DeleteIt seems many people are using the time to get stuff done around and outside the house. I'd prefer a little more time but work is busier than usual and it doesn't leave me much time for lengthier home projects. But it sounds like your garden has been transformed! It'll be so nice when it's finished and you can enjoy it. We're having a patio and pergola done at the moment but with the wet weather and the builder moving house it's been a bit stop/start which I find really frustrating as I just want it finished - I'm so impatient.
Take it easy - look after yourself

I love this!!!
ReplyDeleteMy dad and stepmum went to Felixstowe last weekend and the picture she took of the beach seemed fairly empty- mind you, the flat is right up the other end, towards Bawdsey direction!
Haha, I loved your comment on Sophie's post about Alacrity. It is one of my favourite words and I write it quite often and say it every so often! I first encountered it in a Georgette Heyer book about a decade ago and I looked it up and used it because I loved this regency-sounding word!
Thanks!
DeleteI don't mind seeking out the quieter bits of the beaches, I just miss the sea.
I'd never heard the word alacrity before, or not knowingly anyway. It's a good word!
