#30Wears | Jumpers
Tuesday, July 07, 2020I purchased a fine knit jumper in two different colours back in September '17. The grey one has just hit 30 Wears. Some might say that grey is dull and boring but it's a colour I'm drawn to, and it's lovely item to pair with bright patterns and colours, it's really versatile.
The navy one hit 30 Wears just over a year after purchase in October '18, and has now been worn over 60 times. I purchased the navy one to replace a very similar jumper, and when this one finally wears out completely, I know I'll want to buy another, it's an essential wardrobe staple for me.
In September '18
I bought a yellow jumper which hit 30 Wears in March this year. It won't
come out again until the Autumn and currently sits nestled in a suitcase
under my bed with all my other bulkier knits. I'm hoping I won't be retrieving it from under there until at least mid October.
Looking at most of the outfit shots I'm carrying a bag, it seems weird now, I can't remember the last time I carried a bag thanks to lockdown. Having to think about gathering phone, keys, and other such paraphernalia in order to leave the house seems like a lifetime ago!

The #30Wears concept was the brainchild of Olivia Firth, founder of Ecoage, the idea is that the next time you want to buy new clothing or accessories, ask yourself if you will wear the item at least 30 times? If not, don’t buy it!

I wondered how long it would take to wear something 30 times, which is why I started counting, and it takes longer than I thought it would, but this is obviously impacted by the fact I have rather lot of clothes!

I always remember being with a friend shopping and seeing a dress for £100 and saying it's too expensive and she said 'would you wear it a hundred times, would you feel a million dollars every time you wore it? would you pay £1 everytime you wore a dress that made you feel that fabulous? then it's an investment ... sold!
ReplyDeleteI like that! I don't often spend huge amounts on a single item, but, from now on, if I do it will be because of this!

I love Betty's friend's words of wisdom!
ReplyDeleteI do like your round-ups. I'll hold my hands up to not liking grey although you combine yours with colour so it's not like the uniform of black & grey I see out and about.
The yellow jumper is my favourite collage, it looks so happy and joyful especially on a day as gloomy as today. xxx
I have been known to wear a black / grey outfit more than once... but I like it and feel good in it. The world would be boring if we were all the same.
DeleteI hadn't worn yellow in years, thinking that it didn't suit me, but this jumper spoke to me, I love it, and even though it's not the colour I was expecting (it's an online purchase) I think it looks just fine.
xx
I've taken to not carrying a bag anymore. Sticking my phone and card in a pocket. Tissues and hand sanitiser in the car. I'm just not expecting to go in any shops, just very occasionally the garage to buy fuel. I've not replaced my rubbishy bag for walks yet but I'll have to before it gives up altogether. Love that yellow jumper, it's got such a lovely weight and shape to it. Not bulky or chunky xx
ReplyDeleteI rather like the freedom of not having to carry a bag, find my keys, wonder if I've got change for the car park. Not going out does make life simpler.
DeleteI love all these jumpers, the grey and navy are so easy to style, perfect to pair with prints and other colours. The yellow jumper tends to be worn with jeans, and I do love a jeans an jumper outfit.
Hope you're well

I too love Betty's words of wisdom. Something to keep in mind, I'm sure. I do not have much grey in my wardrobe, but navy all the more. I even have some solid navy pieces: a skirt and a raincoat spring to mind. That yellow jumper is gorgeous, and I'm sure it will be worn many more times in the appropriate season. You're so right about bags. I still need one for my office days, for which I'm currently using my new-to-me green one, but apart from a walk to the village shops and a couple of nature walks, I haven't been out much, so most of my bags are languishing in my wardrobe. I'm trying to make an effort though. xxx
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen you in a solid colour :)
DeleteI used to try and wear my clothes all year round but now I prefer to keep things seasonal, it's something to look forward to with each change in season, that said if this horrid weather keeps up I might be digging out a few jumpers from storage.
I noticed you were using your lovely green bag. If I do go out I'll be carrying the leather rucksack I purchased just as lockdown started, it's hardly seen the light of day since then.
Hope you're keeping well

I cannot go without a bag except that it has permanently been my rucksack ever since I started cycling to work!
ReplyDeleteWell done to your jumpers! The yellow is so happy and pretty but I really like the two more muted ones!
I'm only going without a bag because I'm not going out.
DeleteI do like these jumpers, the yellow one always gets complimented, the other two are just really handy to have as they go with so much.
