16 Things To Do This Autumn
Sunday, October 29, 2017
Make fat balls for the birds and keep them coming throughout autumn and winter
Prepare a crumble using foraged fruits and serve with piping hot custard
Enjoy a homemade soup for lunch with fresh crusty granary rolls
Watch a scary movie on Halloween
Watch under 16s football from the sidelines (so much better than watching the overpaid 'professionals')
Light a bonfire and roast marshmallows
Knit!
Make your own chai latte
Paint pottery
Plant spring flowering bulbs
Needle felt some acorns
Go on a charity shop search for warm woollens
Eat a Cadbury's Ghoost Egg, or a box of Mr Kipling's Fiendish Fancies, or both
Turn off the TV and do a jigsaw puzzle
Spend Black Friday making handmade gifts
Get cosy and read
Let me know what autumnal things you like to do!

I've got Friday off and I'm secretly hoping it's tipping it down so I can snuggle up in bed with the new brick thick Fiona Walker novel and read all day. I only do this about once a year since it feels supremely decadent even to my lazy-ass self. Hope you get your Autumn plans ticked off x
ReplyDeleteRaining or not, I think you should snuggle up with the book anyway, it's a day off after all :)

Get cosy and read is definitely on my list, too. And I wouldn't mind one of the Cadbury or Mr. Kipling delights you mention. Going for long autumnal walks as long as the weather's dry. Trying a couple of new baking recipes. Get on with my mending pile now that the nights are drawing in. Get my warm woollies and boots ready. Wishing you lots of fun ticking off your list, Hazel! xxx
ReplyDeleteThe Mr Kipling treats are one of my all time favourites. I think I requested them for every birthday party I've ever had, and now I can't resist the themed ones.
DeleteA few woodland walks would be super, and my mending pile definitely needs my attention!

A lovely list!
ReplyDeleteOver the last week I've filled one of our fireside baskets with pine cones foraged from the garden, filled up the bird feeders with suet blocks and raked up the leaves - my Autumn tasks.
This week I might try and make some earrings from some bits and pieces I've got lying around and tackle a new old dressmaking pattern or I might not. These dark nights sap my enthusiasm for being creative. xxx
I really should get outside with a rake too, and sort out the greenhouse.
DeleteI don't feel especially creative at this time of year either, dark nights just make me want to watch TV or read.

Needle felting acorns sounds like fun! My only thing to do is a classic - kicking piles of leaves. Honestly, it never gets old.
ReplyDeleteThe acorns are quick and easy and look really effective. Ah yes, leaf kicking, it's obligatory really!

This is the time I make wreath bases for Christmas with foraged vines from the woods, I aim to make orange pomanders this year too and also check chazzas for accessories that say Autumn.
ReplyDeleteI like the sounds of all of these things! xx
DeleteWhat an excellent idea for Black Friday! Definitely going to borrow it.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely do (I borrowed it from someone, but I can't remember who!)
DeleteI love the Black Friday idea! Ha ha, beat the system!!! x
