Imagine my delight when I found a pair of IC shoes, in my size, at a recent clothes swap. They looked a little grubby (not surprising for cream fabric) but in good condition, not much wear on the soles and heels however, I didn't realise until I got home that they had some embellishment missing.I wasn't going to put me off, I could easily add something to bring them back to their former glory. I had a little think - a ribbon rosette? pom poms? buttons? all of the above? I vowed to have a rummage in my local haberdashery and thought no more of it.
Then out of nowhere I remembered some flower hair clips I'd bought to dress as a fairy. I'd put them in a box a few weeks ago, ready to take to a car boot sale (that I'll probably never get around to doing). I knew I had some purple, and orange ones but I found some pale peach and cream ones too.
The purple ones were a bit pinker than I remembered, but luckily they matched the heel of the shoe almost perfectly.
I played around with different combinations before settling on a final combination. But before I started to attach them I needed to clean the shoes, I found a good tutorial online and got scrubbing.
Once clean and dry I removed the hair clips from the backs of the flowers and got out my hot glue gun, naturally I added some buttons into the mix (you know me and buttons) and few minutes later they were done!
Turns out that what I'd done isn't a million miles away from the original design (which is Can't Touch This, in case you were wondering).
What do you think to my Irregular Choice make-over, they look pretty good don't they? I've been wearing them around the house this morning, with my PJs.
(Day 19 of blogging everyday for 40 days).
Yesterday I started to knit a coin purse, and this time last week I was pondering everything I want to achieve in the next year. This time last year I was saying 'hello' to berry lips.
