April Resolutions

Monday, March 30, 2020

This year I'm making my resolutions at the start of each month, hoping that this will make the year a productive one. Obviously anything I do this month will be based at home.

It was hard to think of things to do this month. Whenever I thought about what I wanted to do the answer was always 'see my family'. Not knowing when I can see them again is upsetting. I imagine you all feel the same, it's hard isn't it? I know we're more connected than ever but nothing beats seeing someone in person. I'm going to hug my family so flippin' hard when I see them next.

It's a worrying time for everyone, and my worries are not as bad as for some, in the grand scheme of things I'm very lucky.

So, here's what I decided I would do in April.

1. Mend my green skirt
I'm going to give it a go, zips aren't my strong point but it can't be that hard, and it's not as if I've never sewn a zip before. I think I'm just being a bit precious about it because I like the skirt so much. My motivation is that if I don't mend it now, I won't be able to get it professionally mended for a few months and I want to start wearing it again.

2. Fill the greenhouse
I want to plant as many seeds as possible, I've already made a start. I have loads of packets, some veg, some flowers, and I want to grow more this year than ever before. Getting outside and pottering in my greenhouse is one of my favourite things to do, so I'm going to get out there as much as I can. If there is one thing that will keep me sane during lockdown, it's this.

3. Pick at least four DIY jobs and get them done
I always have a DIY to-do list, some of them are fiddly little jobs that in all honesty would only take a short time, and now's the perfect time.

What do you have planned for April?

Stay safe and take care.
xx

  1. The advantage about us being orphans is that we have no elderly relatives to worry about. I dread to think how my Mum would have coped with a lockdown, she had to go out every day or she'd be climbing the walls like a caged tiger!
Take your time with that zip and you'll be wearing that fab skirt in no time (although you'll be accessorising it with thermals if the last few days is anything to go by!)
April's plans? Learn some conversational Greek in the hope that we can go away in September and celebrate our Never-Had-A-Wedding Anniversary on Wednesday. xxx

    1. Both my parents had very busy social lives until recently, they'll both keep busy with hobbies and such but I do worry about them being alone so much.
I keep picking up the skirt and putting it back down again, I think it's safe to say I'll take my time with it :)
Fingers crossed for September, I can't even begin to imagine not being back to normal by then. Happy no anniversary for Wednesday. Our anniversary on Friday - I'll be getting my wedding dress out again.

  3. Until quite recently, I found it hard making plans for the future in these trying times. However, even if I still don't want to plan too far ahead, the change in my working schedule affords me the time to tackle things around the house which have been on the to-do list forever, and to have more time for myself, a chance I'm grabbing with both hands. Who knows, I might even get to grips with my Mum's sewing machine! Your resolutions do seem very do-able, and I'm sure you'll be glad you made the effort with your green skirt's zip once the weather warms up. xxx

    1. I guess we just need to think differently about the plans we make, and as long as we can be flexible with them, we'll get through it.
It would be lovely to get to grips with your Mum's sewing machine, this is the perfect time to do it.
Fingers crossed the zip goes well, I'm looking forward to wearing that skirt again!

  5. That seems like a good, manageable list for April. I hope nothing gets in the way this time!

    1. I hope nothing gets in the way, it'd have to be a catastrophe to stop me doing these things!
