Wearing It All | Autumn

Friday, December 20, 2019

I have far fewer options in my wardrobe for this time of year than in the warmer months. Jeans and jumpers dominate my autumn / winter wardrobe. Skirts appear on occasion, but most days I'll be clad in denim and wool.

Once again trying to wear every seasonal item in my wardrobe has reminded me of the many, many items I'd forgotten about. I've selected a few that can be donated to charity, and a few to be sold on ebay.

It's hard to believe I started the season wearing shorts, it didn't last long of course, and it seems like such a long time ago now, but we're nearly at the shortest day, so it can only get better...

  1. I don't think you need as many options at this time of year as you do in the summer months. I'm happy to live in jeans and a jumper, it's all about keeping warm.

    1. It certainly is, the warmer the better!
I still have plenty of options, the amount of clothes I have is verging on ridiculous.

  2. Wearing it all is a great way of refining your wardrobe. I always think I have fewer clothing options in Autumn/Winter, but in the end I think it's about equal. I do love to have some choice especially as I'm sure I'm wearing this part of my wardrobe for a longer time than my Spring/Summer one, often well into Spring. Loving your tartan pattern coat! xxx

    1. It's true we wear our a/w wardrobes for longer, I hadn't thought of that.
The coat was a great find, I love it!

  3. I used to dread winter dressing but after 53 years I've finally come to my senses and realised I live in a rubbish Northern European climate, I've sold loads of my vintage strappy maxi dresses and invested in vintage cotton dresses with sleeves that I can wear all year round. xxx

    1. There is certainly a lot of wisdom in that. I miss my summer clothes but it does feel like a real treat when I do get to wear them. I'd love to master the art of dresses in winter but I find the layers feel bulky and uncomfortable, jeans will always win out in the colder months. And I do love a good pair of jeans...

  4. Yes! You wore the poncho! I feel like most of autumn is just winter. Thin jumpers are for summer and all the bulky thick stuff is for October to May (but I do own a lot of jumpers). I really like the ways you have worn your coats too xx

    1. It's not the one I purchased when we went shopping, it a different poncho, one of three (who needs three!!)
I do think I should have more winter clothes than summer, as Ann pointed out, they're worn for a larger portion of the year.

    1. Thanks Kezzie.
You definitely have more wardrobe variety than I do, I'm a bit predictable at this time of year. I'm loving my tartan coat.
