This year I've been joining in A Buyer's Archive with Elise, keeping track of my spending on clothes and accessories.
I didn't go clothes shopping, I didn't have anything in mind that I wanted this month, and the time raced by so fast, I'm surprised I purchased anything at all.
White Stuff shirt (ex-stock) | ebay | £12.80
It's a great replacement for a Mango blouse I found in a charity shop last summer. I loved that blouse, but finally had to admit that it'd become unwearable after the cotton tore irreparably at the back. I'd been wearing it under cardigans for months to hide the rips!
I liked it so much that I set
up an ebay search on the off chance that someone would be selling one. After several months I was presented with an ex-stock White Stuff shirt - a pretty good alternative. It has all the qualities I loved about my
Mango blouse - lightweight cotton, ditsy print, pintucks, and cap
sleeves.
I deliberated for a while before clicking 'add to basket', leaning closer and closer to the screen to get a good look at the photographs. Wondering would it be good enough to fill the gap left by my Mango blouse? Unlike almost everything else I've ever bought on ebay, I had the option of returning it if it didn't live up to expectation. Thankfully it did, I'm really chuffed with it.
Do you sometimes find it hard to let go of particular items of clothing? I seem to become ridiculously attached to some things!
I thought that my spending for the month would end there but towards the end of the month Rachel had a sale on Instagram and I couldn't resist having a little look. I treated myself to a new blouse (£9.00), one I'd admired on her blog a few months ago. Luckily for me it wasn't her usual style and she decided to part with it having worn it only once. It's not my usual style either, and maybe it won't look right on me, but I'm looking forward to experimenting with it.
Both of these shirts are going into my winter capsule.
Total for November: £21.80
Overall total for 2016: £742.39
Which leaves me £2.61 under my £745 target for the year. I have to admit there were times I didn't think I'd manage it.
