This week...

LOVING these Feud Cinadine boots...

I saw them over at Fashion Launderette, as an entry for the Sarenza Ambassador Competition. Maybe it's a love of beaten up boots that never really left me after my days at art college or my love for brogues but something in me is screaming "YOU HAVE TO BUY THESE". I'm currently resisting.

WEARING...

...my heart on my front. I had to have this gorgeous sweater from the Next Spring / Summer collection.

TRYING...

...the 17 BB Blemish Balm. It was recommended in a comment on my Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector review (thanks Sarah).

I really like it, the light colour is perfect and the coverage is good, perfect for a natural look. It leaves my skin looking smooth and even with just a hint of a shimmer - but just a teeny tiny hint - which is perfect.

From reviews I have read, this balm seems to be perfect for paler skins as the light shade seems to be lighter than other brands. From experience I know that the palest shades of some brands are still too dark and can make you look too 'made up'.

And then there is the price... £6.99, who can argue with that?

DECIDING...

What have you been up to this week?

Shopping my wardrobe... part 2

I don't think I've told you this yet but I received an iPad2 for Christmas. It was a complete surprise, I hadn't asked for one or showed any interest in having one but now I have it, I use it constantly, I love it. Most of the time.

I love it until it decides to randomly delete my draft posts. I have started to write this particular post twice. This is my third attempt. Fingers crossed that it makes the transition from draft post to published post. If it doesn't you'll never get to read this, because I am not writing this again!

Part 1 of this exercise is here. To quickly recap I promised to create three different outfits from each item in a recent (or now not so recent) haul by shopping my wardrobe.

H&M t-shirt.

I'm not sure that I ever really 'style' a t-shirt, I think it's the sort of thing that I just wear. The most obvious way to wear it was with jeans. So, to keep all three outfits from being the same I dragged the trousers (on the right) from The Mend Pile. As one of my NY resolutions is to mend everything in it, I was rather chuffed to have made a start...

Zara skirt.

The more I look at this the more I wonder if I actually like it. Perhaps I need to style it differently? What do you think?

Custard Designs bag.

I found Custard Designs via an #ff. They tempted me, taunted me - I gave in and treated myself to this bag. It's a gorgeous deep pinky-red leather with a pink lining. I often use it to add a pop of colour to another wise neutral or monochrome outfit. I know that I'm going to be using this bag for years. I've currently got my eye on the their reptile print leather bag. It's more of an orangey-red and in the sale too! Should I?

Bloggers Do It Better - Sequins

After a recent Everybody, Everywear sequins and sparkles challenge I decide I wanted a bit more sparkle in my wardrobe. I picked up this top in the New Look sale before Christmas for only £7.00. So when the Bloggers Do It Better challenge turned out to be sequins, I knew exactly what I would be wearing.

I also found a skirt on eBay, which is a stunning colour but also A-line and mid calf - not flattering, so I plan to alter it but more on that in another post.

I love layering at the moment and think this top works really well worn with a jumper over the top, the sequins just poking out beneath. It's an easy way to wear sequins during the day.

Inspiration Monday - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

The first Inspiration Monday of 2012 from Two Birds, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Luckily the sun was shining yesterday so I could finish off the look with sunglasses. Today we have heavy rain and high winds... and it's my first day back at work after a fabulous Christmas break *sigh*.

Yes that is a cat at my feet...

I haven't worn this jacket for ages. I had to sew on a few missing buttons to free it from the Mend Pile (more on that to come), and teamed it with a scarf I won in Sophie's 200 follower thank you giveaway. Thanks Sophie!

You can all of the other participants here.

Something for 2012

Here we are in a brand new year. It's at this time that my thoughts, like many others, turn to holidays and warmer weather, plans for the year begin to take shape and resolutions are made. I've always thought that resolutions should not be saved for January, that if a change is wanted or needed, it should just be made. But that hasn't stopped me compiling a list each and every January for as long as I can remember. Last year I kept it very simple, with just four resolutions but failed spectacularly on all counts! If at first you don't succeed...

This year's resolutions are a bit of a mixture.

Master liquid eyeliner once and for all
I have Pam Am to thank for this, I've been obsessed ever since episode one.

Finish the jumper I started knitting in March 2010
I have so little left to do that I'm determind to finish it before it creeps into its third year on the needles...

Fix the 'mend pile'
I have a number of clothes that are in need of mending or alteration but instead of doing anything about it, I just keep adding to it!

Write at least one line in my diary everyday
Last year I wanted to write more in my diary but actually wrote less than any other year, so I've decided that just one line a day will suffice for 2012, if I want to write more I can, just as long as I write something everyday. A simple sentence is often enough to spark a memory.

Use the spa vouchers OH gave me for our second anniversary
Since May I've had vouchers for eight hot stone massages. Why have I not used any yet? Why indeed. Craziness.

This one is a biggie...
Negotiate with work to be based at home
Full time if possible but I'd settle for a few days a week to redress the work / life balance.

Then of course there are the normal eat healthier, exercise more, buy less, choose well, and be more organised type resolutions.

I'd like to refer back to these resolutions over the course of 2012 to evaluate how they're going, with a little effort it'll be easy to improve on last year!

Have you made any resolutions? Anything exciting or unusual?

Hope you have a very happy, healthy 2012!
